For the first time in WMS recent history, we are having an all school registration this summer. 

When: July 10-14th 

                           July 10th - 5th Grade - 8:00-3:00 

                           July 11th - 6th Grade - 8:00-3:00

                           July 12th - 7th Grade - 8:00-3:00

                           July 13th - 8th Grade - 8:00-3:00

                           July 14th - Extra Hours - 2:00 -7:00 

What:

     - Registration for 2017-18 school year 

     - PA reps for families to sign up and purchase WMS Spirit Wear (see below) 

     - Advertisement of sports and clubs, like the Get Involved Fair 

     - Boys & Girls Club present with forms and information

     - Title I can provide any necessary documents

Where: WMS Cafeteria 

Why:  Students will be able to select some of their classes & Parents will be able to complete some of the first day of school paperwork. 

Guidance & Attendance departments will be able to get updated paperwork and info completed ahead of time. Teachers will have less first day forms to pass out & collect.

As our district works to increase literacy skills for all students, WMS will be participating in a required summer reading assignment.  All students entering grades 5-8 for the 2017-2018 school year will be required to read a specific novel over the summer. 

  • upcoming 5th graders will read Maniac Magee by Jerry Spinelli
  • upcoming 6th graders will read Summer of the Monkeys by Wilson Rawls
  • upcoming 7th graders will read Among the Hidden by Margaret Peterson Haddix
  • upcoming 8th graders will choose between The Maze Runner by James Dashner and Coraline by Neil Gaiman


3/16/17 Sports Reminders: 

5th through 7th grade students need to turn in a sports physical  for the 2017/2018 school year to be able to try-out for sports teams next year. All physical have to be done after April 15, 2017 to be good for next year. Any physical done before April 15, 2017 will not work by TSSAA rules. All physical will need to be turn into main office by May 12th of this school year.

Well Child is currently taking application for physical to be given on April 24 and 25th at a cost of 20.00 dollars or free if you have ten-care. Applications must be turn in before students leave on spring break.

Bone and Joint will give free physical for boys on May 1st and free physical for girls on May 8th . More information on this will come later.

Whitthorne will have physical forms put in the main office on April 15th.
